PORT (Promoting Outdoor Recreational Trails)

PORT logo

A community based group who represent different interests who have come together to promote the creation and use of outdoor recreational trails in Fort Madison. We will operate as a sub-committee of the City of Fort Madison Parks & Recreation Department. The proposed Phase 1 and Phase 2 are shown below:

  • Three phases:
    • Phase 1: 3,000 feet – Connecting Ivanhoe Park to Bluff Road (COMPLETE)
    • Phase 2: 2,750 feet – Connect Phase I trail to 48th Street (running south of the FMMS to 48th street)
    • Phase 3: Trail will utilize existing sidewalk on 48th Street and connect the Sports Complex to the walking trail at Fort Madison Community Hospital (plans still being finalized)

Goal is to begin construction of Phase 1 of the trail in Spring of 2015; with subsequent Phases to follow upon funding and opportunity.
